Pot up using free-draining compost, and grow anemone plants on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. Once they are well grown, acclimatise anemones to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting out on moist fertile, well drained soil in sun or dappled shade. Anemone plants dislike wet ground, particularly during winter. Improve soil conditions by adding plenty of well rotted manure or compost prior to planting.
Feed and water anemones regularly throughout the growing season. Cut back anemone flowers as they fade. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of anemones in spring.
