Beautiful rich purple flowers smother this low-growing evergreen perennial in early spring. Aubrieta ‘Axcent Deep Purple’ has a longer flowering period than most Aubretias, flowering for up to eight weeks, and making a superb compliment to spring flowering bulbs and shrubs. With a spreading, mat-forming habit, Aubretia is perfectly at home in rock gardens, spilling over sunny banks, patio containers or as a ground cover plant in hot dry borders. The flowers are also a great source of spring nectar for pollinating insects. Height: 10cm (4″). Spread: 60cm (24″).

Grow Aubrieta in any well drained soil in full sun at 45cm (18″) apart to form a dense carpet. If planting on heavy or clay soils, dig in plenty of coarse grit or sharp sand to improve drainage prior to planting.

Cut Aubrieta plants back after flowering to promote a fresh flush of growth and maintain their compact form.
