Crocosmia ‘Lucifer’

A vigorous, cormous perennial with elegant, arching sprays of bright red flowers in late summer and early autumn. Earlier in the season the sword-shaped leaves are great for adding vertical interest to borders. Crocosmia ‘Lucifer’ has been awarded an RHS AGM and looks superb planted in drifts through borders, providing a welcome splash of late season colour. Montbretia also thrive in coastal gardens and make excellent cut flowers. Height: 100cm (39″). Spread: 10cm (4″).

Culinary information: A yellow dye is obtained from the flowers and then used as a saffron substitute for colouring foods. For more details about edible flowers click here.
