Grow hardy fuchsias in containers or borders, in any moist, well drained soil. Position in a sunny or semi shaded site which is protected from cold winds over winter. Pinch out the growing points where stems have more than 2 sets of leaves, while the plants are still small. This will encourage Fuchsia plants to produce more stems, making a bushier plant with more flowers.

Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. Deadhead faded fuchsia flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. In autumn, a bark or compost mulch applied to the base of fuchsia plants will help to protect hardy fuchsias from winter cold.
